AHHHA SHJSJSJS AH ONG I LOVE THIS SO MUCH AND I HATE IT AND I LOVE IT AHHHH！Okay I have gathered some thoughts and I’m not loosing my mind anymore。 First of all the ambiance was amazing。 This spooky fae atmosphere is wonderful！ And the characters *chef’s kiss* I love Jude she’s such a badass and a murderer with questionable morals omg I’m in love。 Not to mention Cardan。。。 😶

I really don’t know what to think about this。 It was very fast paced and at times， hard to keep up with。 I feel like the world wasn’t established as clear as it could have been and everything was happening really quickly。 It felt more like a sequence of events rather than a story。 As for the plot itself， I fairly liked it。 I feel like I can see where this is all going with the whole enemies to lovers thing- but even the relationships were being established very quickly。 Within 50 pages， Jude and I really don’t know what to think about this。 It was very fast paced and at times， hard to keep up with。 I feel like the world wasn’t established as clear as it could have been and everything was happening really quickly。 It felt more like a sequence of events rather than a story。 As for the plot itself， I fairly liked it。 I feel like I can see where this is all going with the whole enemies to lovers thing- but even the relationships were being established very quickly。 Within 50 pages， Jude and Cardan were already at each other’s throats even though they were barely introduced。 Maybe the other books are better？ Idk 。。。more

i absolutely love this book。 the main character is so powerful and morally grey and even though she has a semi-love interest that doesn't make her any less badass。 I love that the author managed to join the idea of feminine ball gowns and pretty hair styles with daggers and sword fighting。 the main character is probably one of my favourite characters of all time， her name is Jude and she's so incredibly witty， manipulative and sly that I can't get enough of her。i also noticed that the land of El i absolutely love this book。 the main character is so powerful and morally grey and even though she has a semi-love interest that doesn't make her any less badass。 I love that the author managed to join the idea of feminine ball gowns and pretty hair styles with daggers and sword fighting。 the main character is probably one of my favourite characters of all time， her name is Jude and she's so incredibly witty， manipulative and sly that I can't get enough of her。i also noticed that the land of Elfhame where the story takes place was so beautifully thought out and everything made sense， there were no loop holes that I can think of off the top of my head。 the villain of the book was probably Cardan and he was so incredibly cruel （yk coz the book is called the CRUEL prince） and violent but there was so much more to him - lets also not forget that he's hot， minus the tail ofc。 the story is not at all predictable and there's loads of plot twists which is amazing。the only things I can really think of to criticise was the language of the book， it was written very simple and straight forward; there was just no 'wow' in Holly Black's writing if you know what I mean。 I heard that a lot of people criticised this book alot because apparently the pace of it was slow， but that wasn't the case at all。 also it ends on a cliffhanger so I'm about to read the sequel 'the wicked king' and I'm very excited。 。。。more

De início， imaginei que esse livro teria muitas questões políticas e reviravoltas （como a maioria das pessoas dizem） mas a única coisa que vi foram personagens rasos e mal explorados jogados em um universo pequeno， não consegui imaginar a maioria das criaturas mágicas porquê elas não foram descritas com detalhes， a autora economizou na escrita em cenas importantes e exagerou em coisas descartáveis， e por fim odiei as cenas de bullying， todas são pesadas e sem propósito algum， e saber que a jude De início， imaginei que esse livro teria muitas questões políticas e reviravoltas （como a maioria das pessoas dizem） mas a única coisa que vi foram personagens rasos e mal explorados jogados em um universo pequeno， não consegui imaginar a maioria das criaturas mágicas porquê elas não foram descritas com detalhes， a autora economizou na escrita em cenas importantes e exagerou em coisas descartáveis， e por fim odiei as cenas de bullying， todas são pesadas e sem propósito algum， e saber que a jude será par romântico com cardan， homem que drogou ela e a humilhou， me fez odiar ainda mais， com todos os plots clichês já até sei que as atitudes dele serão justificadas com algum trauma， não pretendo ler os próximos da trilogia。 。。。more

That was a RIOT。 I adore this version of Faerie。 I LOVE the complex relationship between Jude and Madoc。 I love all the lies and games and tricks and bargains。 I was laughing out loud and pacing with anxiety and drawn in to this world， and I could not put the book down。 （Though you’ll find I can’t put most of the books down that I read。。。 I’m very judicious when I buy a new book！ I can generally tell pretty quickly whether I’ll enjoy a book。）A million years ago when I was much younger and f-bomb That was a RIOT。 I adore this version of Faerie。 I LOVE the complex relationship between Jude and Madoc。 I love all the lies and games and tricks and bargains。 I was laughing out loud and pacing with anxiety and drawn in to this world， and I could not put the book down。 （Though you’ll find I can’t put most of the books down that I read。。。 I’m very judicious when I buy a new book！ I can generally tell pretty quickly whether I’ll enjoy a book。）A million years ago when I was much younger and f-bombs in books felt naughty and forbidden， I picked up Tithe and quickly put it back down。 （I have no idea if it’s a good book or not—it had a bad word so I didn’t read it。 My sensitivities have since dulled somewhat。 My favorite book last year was The Martian。） From then on I avoided Holly Black。 Evidently that was silly。 In the last couple of months I have seen gorgeous editions of the new novella which piqued my interest， and a leisurely scroll through Pinterest led me to some brilliant fan art of The Cruel Prince。 I investigated， read the prologue， and was immediately captured by the beautiful prose and shockingly bloody opening。 I ordered the whole first trilogy in a boxed set。 After book one， I’m entirely pleased。 One of my favorite things in stories， something that really makes a book memorable for me， is how relationships are examined。 This book has some excellently complex relationships。 I loved seeing how Jude interacted with the people around her and why， and how that changed。 We’ve got sisters and half sisters and half brothers， adoptive fathers， step-mothers， romantic interests， bullies。。。 it was excellent。Though it’s a shame I avoided Holly Black for a million years， I’m very excited about the fact that the entire series is out， I have them all on my shelf， and I don’t have to wait for the next one。 Excelsior！ 。。。more
